Eton y el Castillo de Windsor - Eton College and Windsor Castle

   Hoy teníamos excursión, por la mañana hemos estado en Eton College, aunque sólo por fuera, pero en seguida nos hemos ido a visitar el majestuoso Castillo de Windsor, allí hemos podido ver las habitaciones de estado y la Capilla de Saint George, donde está enterrado el más famosos de los reyes ingleses, Henry VIII y la Reina Madre, entre otros.

    Por la tarde, ya en Oxford, hemos entregado los diplomas del curso, la Jefa de Estudios ha destacado su buen trabajo en las clases y el aprovechamiento de las mismas.

Ashmolean Museum

 Hoy hemos visitado el museo Ashmolean de Oxford. En su interior se puede hacer una visita por toda la historia desde los egipcios con sus momias, pasando por Roma, con la estatua de César Augusto, la Italia Renacentista de Canaletto, y por supuesto los autores ingleses de la época de la industrialización.

Nuestros chicos han hecho la visita en grupos de cuatro y se han comportado muy bien.

Patinaje y cine - Skating and cinema

Hoy ha sido un bonito día en esta preciosa ciudad de Oxford. Por la mañana las clases, como siempre esta semana, y por la tarde hemos vuelto a hacer patinaje sobre hielo. A los chicos les gusta esta actividad.
Por la noche teníamos cine y hemos ido a ver Ice Age 4, que es la película que se eligió por aclamación popular. Nos ha gustado mucho y además hemos podido disfrutar del efecto 3D.
Mañana último día de clases. Esta bonita estancia en Oxford está llegando a su fin, pero vamos a disfrutar de los últimos días porque nos quedan actividades muy interesantes todavía. See you!!

Costwold

El maravilloso sol de ayer ha dejado paso a la habitual lluvia. Los chicos han estado en clase por la mañana y por la tarde hemos visitado el parque natural Costwold.
Allí, y ya sin lluvia, hemos podido difrutar de diversos tipos de animales tales como leones, serpientes, incluída la temible mamba negra, cocodrilos, cebras, jirafas y un largo etcétera.

Pâra acabar el día teníamos una sorpresa  preparada para todos, esta era la visita a nuestra casa de la Antorcha Olímpica Oficial de Londres 2012. ¿Cuántas medallas conquistaremos los españoles en la cita olímpica? ¡we will know very soon!!

deportes y disco - Sport and disco

¡Y amaneció soleado por fín en Oxford!  La lluvia nos dió un respiro ydejó que brillara un enorme sol durante todo el día. Las clases por la mañana dejan a algunos exhaustos pero no lo suficiente como para resistirse a jugar un partido de fútbol o baloncesto en el inmenso y precioso South Park que hay al lado del colegio. Y en la noche inglesa todos con nuestras mejores galas, salimos a disfrutar de nuestra última noche de disco evitando recordar que esto se acaba ya.

Carfax Tower and Christ Church Meadows

   Nuevo día en esta magnífica ciudad, esta semana hemos cambiado, las clases son por la mañana y las actividades por la tarde. 

Después de las clases hemos ido al centro de Oxford, hemos subido a Carfax Tower desde donde hemos podido disfrutar de una magnífica panorámica de la ciudad.

Más tarde hemos ido a Christ Church Meadows, allí hemos dado un pequeño paseo porque la lluvia nos sigue acompañando.

Mañana nos han cambiado la actividad debido al tiempo, nos toca deporte!!!

¡algunos tenemos la calefacción puesta en casa!!!

visita a Londres - Visit to London

 Londres como siempre: ¡genial! Pensábamos que íbamos a ver más gente pero no. Todo normal, incluida nuestra amiga la lluvia que de nuevo nos ha acompañado por la mañana.

Hemos visitado Covent Garden, Soho, Leicester Square, Picadilly, Trafalgar, The Parliamnet, The Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, y por supuesto Buckimgham Palace dónde la Reina insistía en que tomaramos el té pero teníamos porque había que volver a cenar.
Ah! hasta nos ha dado tiempo a entrar a la National Gallery a ver La Venus en el Espejo y el gran cuadro de Van Eyck, el matrimonio Arnolfini.
Mañana descansamos, hemos quedado con los chicos para el Lunch.

Patinaje sobre hielo - Ice-skating

 Hoy tocaba deportes pero lo hemos cambiado por el patinaje sobre hielo, por si llovía, ¡qué raro!

Al final, ha hecho bueno y los chicos han disfrutado patinando. Algunos patinan muy bien, medalla de oro para todos.

Por la tarde un grupo ha visitado el mercado de la ciudad en la primera mitad de su clase. Tenían que buscar datos para aprender vocabulario.

¡Y mañana a Londres!!!

En la bolera - At the bowling

Esta mañana hemos tenido buen día y hemos estado en la bolera. Por la tarde no podemos decir lo mismo del tiempo: lluvia y más lluvia.

Por la noche hemos ido a la disco. Los chicos se lo han pasado genial y han sido puntuales en la salida. Hasta el portero de la disco se ha sorprendido de su puntualidad. Un 10 para todos.

Mañana tenemos deporte, ya os contaremos como ha ido.

Warwick Castle

 Sigue lloviendo, aunque cambiara, no pasaría nada.
Hoy Warwick Castle, hemos visto Peacocks (Pavos Reales) en un castillo medieval ambientado con Clay Models (figuras de arcilla) representando a Enrique VIII, La Reina Isabel II, etc.

Por la tarde a clase y mañana a la Bowling (la bolera).

Hoy hemos tenido celebración:  ¡Felicidades Sara!!

EXCURSION SHEET                                        WARWICK CASTLE

• Warwick Castle is a medieval castle in Warwick, the county town of Warwickshire, England. It sits on a bend on the River Avon.
• The castle was built by William the Conqueror in 1068
• From 1088, the castle traditionally belonged to the Earl of Warwick, and it served as a symbol of his power
• The castle was taken in 1153 by Henry of Anjou, later Henry II.
• Warwick Castle was used in the 15th century to imprison the English king, Edward IV.
• In the 17th century the grounds were turned into a garden.
• The current castle, built in stone during the reign of King Henry II, is on the same site as the earlier Norman motte-and-bailey castle.
• Warwick Castle is the subject of many ghost stories. Fulke Greville is said to haunt the Watergate Tower, despite being murdered in Holborn; the Watergate Tower is also known as the Ghost Tower and for most of the year it is home to "Warwick Ghosts Alive", a short, live-action show telling the story of Fulke Greville's murder.

Visita a Chris Church - Visit to Christ Church

Hoy nos ha llovido un poco pero estamos fresquitos y se agradece.

Por la mañana hemos visitado un College: Christ Church. Hogwarts para los fans de Harry Potter ya que en su interior se encuentra el comedor que aparece en la película.

Por la tarde a clase y por la noche a la disco. Los chicos se han portado genial, han sido puntuales a la hora de la salida. Mañana mas, a dormir ahora que no llueve.

EXCURSION SHEET                             CHRIST CHURCH

·        Christ Church is both Oxford University's largest College and the Cathedral Church for the Anglican Diocese of Oxford. Visitors are welcomed throughout the year to enjoy Christ Church's beauty and fascinating history.

·        In 1851, Charles Dodgson came to Christ Church to study mathematics. He spent the rest of his life here as a student and teacher. It was while he wrote for a student paper that he was given the writing name - "Lewis Carroll," by his editor.   

·        There is plenty more Lewis Carroll and Alice information at other Oxford venues, including Alice's Shop, which has a tea room and many Alice souvenirs available to buy. It is the real site of the old Sheep Shop which appears in Alice through the Looking Glass. Find out more at http://www.sheepshop.com.

·        Follow the footsteps of the world's favourite wizard through Oxford's most spectacular College. Many of the scenes in the Harry Potter feature films are shot in various locations of the College and as you walk around the cloisters and quadrangles it is easy to see why.

·        The Great Hall was replicated in the film studios to create Hogwart's Hall. Only one of our portraits moves, sadly, but many of the faces are the real "Wizards" who have changed the way we understand the world. As Harry and the new first-years enter Hogwarts they are greeted by Professor McGonagall. This scene was shot on the 16th century staircase which leads up to the Great Hall. It was just as well they didn't film this when the Hall was first built, since the wonderful vaulted roofing (shown in the picture above) was only put up 150 years after the staircase. You would have got very wet going for dinner if it rained!

·        The cloisters in Christ Church were first built 1000 years ago. This ancient vintage made them the ideal setting for various scenes.  It is here that Harry is shown the trophy his father won as a seeker in Quidditch. We don't know if the monks who originally lived around the cloisters had their own special games. If they did, they took the secret with them when they left 500 years ago. But who knows..........

·        Christ Church Meadow is a large area of tranquil pasture in the heart of the busy city of Oxford, owned and maintained by Christ Church and bordering the rivers Cherwell and Isis. A herd of beautiful Longhorn cattle are maintained by Christ Church on the Meadow and spend most of the year there.

 Primer día en Oxford. Por la mañana paseo turístico por Oxford. Los chicos fueron puntuales en general, ¡alguno demasiado!
 
 Por la tarde a clase y después, la gran sorpresa del día: La antorcha Olímpica pasaba junto a la escuela.
   Great!!!

El viaje - The Journey

Llegó el día señalado, todos al avión con los nervios y las ganas de conocer algo nuevo. El vuelo fue perfecto y el aeropuerto vacío y sin filas para pasar el control. Theo, el guía, nos esperaba en la salida, fue muy amable y nos dió las instrucciones de llegada.

Llegamos a Oxford a las doce y media. Un poco de fresco, ¡qué envidia!

OXFORD 2012, DÍA 8 DE JULIO

Hola a todos, mañana empezamos nuestra aventura en Oxford y esperamos que todos lo pasemos bien juntos y aprovechemos la experiencia al máximo.


El tiempo estos días ha estado un poco frío y lluvioso, así que no os olvidéis del paraguas y del chubasquero.


Recordar que el vuelo sale a las 20:20 y debemos estar a las 18:20 en el aeropuerto.
